Togetherness is the debut album from the 13-piece New Orleans-based afrobeat orchestra Kumasi. Recorded in October of 2015, the album features five original instrumental compositions. The first track, "Cabilão," composed by drummer Logan Schutts, fuses a Brazilian influence into the afrobeat sound. The album closes with "Trinitty Gritty," an epic composition from bassist Jonathan Solomon that clocks in at over 10 minutes. Sporting the same vast instrumentation as Fela Kuti's Afrika 70, Togetherness was recorded live in the studio. No multi tracking, no overdubs, and the energy really comes through.
