Good Earth Records, T-Fat Entertainment & The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre present - The Fifth of July Funk Throwdown with Flow Tribe plus Valerie Sassyfras !!

We are super excited about this special NOLA funk show at the Little Theatre, where we will be clearing out all of the seats on the floor and making a big dance floor in front of the stage. This is a DANCE PARTY so we want to encourage dancing to this good time funky music! We will still have 30-40 of the raised seats available for those that want to sit down, on a first come-first serve basis. There is still a great view of the performers on stage from these seats in the back.

Flow Tribe recently released their new single featuring Ivan Neville called "Keep Pushing". The single is an upbeat funk/soul anthem that spreads the good word of never giving up. If any band has experienced the full spectrum of fortune and adversity it's the six Southern rascals in Flow Tribe.

Founded in 2004, the band solidified in the wake of Hurricane Katrina's destruction with the mission to bring the next generation of the New Orleans' sound of unstoppable rhythm and passion to the world. The next 15 years would find Flow Tribe performing over 120 shows a year crossing the country multiple times from the biggest festival stages to freak shows. These are six seasoned blue collar musicians who grind out the good times. They carry on the road dog tradition of following the highway to wherever the next crowd congregates.

The release of 2017's "BOSS", produced by legendary hip hop hit maker Mannie Fresh, gave Flow Tribe a critically acclaimed album that reached #58 on Billboard's R&B Chart. Recording "BOSS" convinced the band of the necessity to build their own studio and establish a hub for creativity for the New Orleans' music community.

The fruits of their labor are evident in the latest single "Keep Pushing". Recorded at Flow Tribe's Downman Sounds Studio, the single showcases Flow Tribe writing, engineering, and producing a track for their upcoming album completely by their own hands. Partnering with the legendary Ivan Neville (Dumpstahphunk, Rolling Stones) "Keep Pushing" leaps out of the speakers with an infectious and unrelenting groove. The incomparable vocals and organ playing of Ivan elevate the song to new heights. It acts as a tantalizing appetizer for their soon to be released album under the same name.

Over the past 15 years Flow Tribe grew up on the road. Each show compacted another strata of experience into the band's uncanny resilience and longevity. "Keep Pushing" demonstrates Flow Tribe in full maturation at the height of their creativity. A career of triumphs and hard knocks animates a sound described as "bizarrely irresistible" by Relix Magazine. "Keep Pushing" invites the listener to embrace the karmic dance. Especially when life steps on your toes.

Valerie Sassyfras is a one of a kind entertainer! She plays keyboard, accordion, mandolin and loves to make audiences go wild with her "wicked" choreography, often performed with accompanying visual projections.

Valerie has been delighting audiences for more than 20 years! Even though she has strong roots in cajun and zydeco music, Sassyfras continues to surprise crowds with fresh and hip new sounds. Some of Valerie's songs deal with heavy topics such as heartbreak, hardships, and death, while others speak about hiding pickles, living in a van down by the river, and just plain having a good night out with your girlfriends! She truly covers the gamut of human emotion with her songwriting.

Recently, Valerie has been featured on the Ellen Show, Ridiculous on MTV, and America's Got Talent Season 14. She has shared the stage with national touring acts such as Tank & The Bangas, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Portugal. The Man, and Marc Rebillet. She was recently on the cover of Offbeat Magazine in New Orleans. In 2020, she was featured in a documentary about her life which won Best Cinematography at the New Orleans Film Festival in 2020 and Best Documentary at Toronto Art House Film Festival 2022.

This show is made possible with generous help from Cathead Distillery, Sorting Table Wine, The Long Beach Market & Deli.

This show is produced by Good Earth Records, T-Fat Entertainment & The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre.

Louis Michot

Louis Michot is best known as the fiddle player and lead-singer for the Grammy award winning Lost Bayou Ramblers, but his passion for Louisiana French and local folklore, and sustainability in the fastest disappearing landmass in the world are what fuels his career as a musician.
